Yesterday we worked on getting the travel insurance arranged. Now its in the box. Going to Antarctica on an expedition has certain additional challenges, especially where emergency evacuation is concerned. Having a serious problem like a broken ankle or wrist for example, or an acute sickness cannot be solved by popping into the local hospital. The local hospital is on another continent! So the travel insurance has to cover this type of evacuation. This is not being pessimist, just a requirement from Hurtigruten (and all tour operators going "South").

Vi fikk mailer fra Hurtigruten der vi ble bedt om å sende inn alle reiseforsikringer. For en tur til Antarktis, og at jeg er norsk, Al engelsk, er ikke det en rett frem prosess. Men etter mange timer for å finne de beste alternativene, mener vi nå at vi er godt forsikret for det kommende eventyret blandt pingviner og isfjell.
